Rather than purchase an engagement ring, I wanted to go down the route of designing and making my own. This was a single stone solitaire ring, cast in white gold with an inset diamond.
About the project
The process
The making of the ring involved getting the stone, designing the ring itself and then fitting the two parts together. The body of the ring was 3D printed in wax and then cast in gold.
You can find a full instructable on the process (should you want to make your own) here.
The final product
The final design used four barbs to hold the stone in place, with a second curve from the ring body coming up to provide additional support.
This was placed in a simple wooden box, and the end result…
…was a yes.
